How My Healing Journey Led to Crystallyn Kay’s Studio

Hey friends — I’m Crystallyn. And I want to tell you a story that goes deeper than weights, playlists, or sweaty selfies. It’s the story of how this studio came to life — not just as a fitness space, but as a reflection of my own healing, transformation, and purpose.

Because I didn’t grow up loving fitness.

In fact, for most of my life, I struggled with it.

From Frustration to a Spark

I’ve always battled with confidence and body image. My weight fluctuated constantly, and movement never felt like something I wanted to do — it felt like something I was supposed to do.
Something to fix how I looked… not to honor how I felt.

And inside? I felt stuck. Disconnected. Never fully at home in my own skin.

That all changed when my sister-in-law, Stacey, invited me to a Sculpt class.

It was dark. It was hot. The music was loud and the energy was electric.

And for the first time ever… I actually enjoyed working out.
That class lit something in me I didn’t know I needed — a spark. I walked out of that room feeling strong, alive, and fully in my body instead of fighting it.

The Road to Sheldon (Literally)

After that first experience, I was hooked. I found myself driving to Sioux Falls multiple times a week just to take Sculpt classes. I couldn’t get enough of it — the sweat, the challenge, the feeling of pushing past what I thought I could do.

Eventually, with a little nudge from my mom (who believed in me before I fully believed in myself), I decided to get certified to teach Sculpt.

At the time, I thought it would be a fun side hobby… but the response was immediate. People were craving this energy, this movement, this space — just like I had been.

We started offering classes in April 2024… and by July, the demand was so real that my husband and I took a leap of faith and made Crystallyn Kay’s Studio official.

What This Studio Really Is

This studio isn’t just a business. It’s my second home — and the people in it are my second family.

CKS has transformed me just as much as it’s transformed the lives of the men and women who walk through our doors. Through every class, I’ve found strength, clarity, and healing — especially during some of the hardest moments in my life, like losing my mom.

It’s not just the music or the workouts — it’s the relationships. The people who show up for themselves and each other. The confidence we build rep by rep. The shared belief that we are better together.

Why I Do This

I’m passionate about helping others find the same thing I found in that first Sculpt class:
Joy. Strength. Confidence. Freedom.

Watching women and men walk in unsure and walk out glowing & strong?

Hearing someone say, “I actually like working out now”?

Seeing friendships form, mindsets shift, and self-belief return?

That’s why I show up.

Because when you start believing in yourself again… it ripples into every area of your life.

If you’ve ever felt like fitness wasn’t for you — like you’ve tried everything and still don’t feel connected or confident — I see you. I was you.

And I want you to know this space was created with you in mind.

You don’t have to be perfect to start.
You don’t have to know what you’re doing.
You just have to walk in the door.

We’ll take it from there.

With love,
Crystallyn
